Alumni Testimonials

The State Rural Livelihoods Mission connects directly with 30L SHG women in the state. We tried to identify opportunities for these women both internally as well as externally, and also train them to access these. I leveraged my experience of financial services and used this opportunity to improve bank linkages and enable credit flow for SHG women. I thought ‘what would we do outside?’ and what learnings from the private sector can I bring here?

Aruna Sampige

Founder,
Roots Reforms Initiative

The last 18 months have been a number of things - diverse, interesting, challenging. The most impactful experience has been our work on restructuring the BBMP workload - how do we metricise a work scope this vast - road networks, drain networks, etc. of a city with a 1.4 billion population?
Overall, I feel satisfied that I was able to give my 2 cents about a problem facing the city I have lived in for over 4 decades.

Balasubramanya R (Balu)

State Lead, Karnataka,
Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS)

It's been a rollercoaster ride!My biggest contribution through the Fellowship has been to bring in a market-first thinking, with a farmer-first approach in the department of Horticulture and its allied departments.

Gayathri Swahar

Senior Director, Social Entrepreneurship,
The/Nudge Institute

It has been a privilege to work with the government and witness the extraordinary self-motivation of the bureaucracy to move the nation forward. The education department, in particular, has been an outstanding experience.
We owe a huge amount of gratitude to Shalini ma'am for guiding team IAF through its maiden flight. This journey has been an invaluable learning experience.

Giri Balasubramaniam

Quizmaster and Director,
Greycaps India Pvt Ltd

I believe the Government really is looking for evidence-based policy design. That is where I could make a contribution - analyzing data and presenting it in a way that decision-making becomes easy.

Ramachandran Narayanaswamy (Rama)

Consulting CTO,
Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS)

My mandate was to bring innovations which were happening in Agri-tech to the farmers’ field. To that effect I was able to conceptualize an innovation cell, and take 2 pilots to 8000 farmers.

Ravi Trivedi

Managing Director, Digital Agriculture,
The/Nudge Institute

Most Government infrastructure projects lack the focus on operations and maintenance - which is why we don’t see our govt assets last their normal life of 30-35 years. Our biggest sense of achievement in the last 18-months was to create a massive credo around an OnM ecosystem for the Jal Jeevan Mission in Karnataka.

Rohit Malhotra

Chief Development Officer,
The/Nudge Institute

The Fellowship provided a transformative experience, with inspiring leadership from Smt. Uma Mahadevan and excellent support from officers like Smt. Priyanka Mary Francis and Smt. Shilpa Nag. We were able to collaborate with different stakeholders, explore new ideas, and make meaningful social interventions. It was an enriching journey towards participatory governance.

Shobha Ananda Reddy

Director - Programs & Strategy,
KHPT

One of my biggest contributions has been Improving the data ecosystem with the Planning Department. The data which is used to devise policy, programmes, schemes, to plan and implement them - we were able to use the right analytics and visualization and now that is driving the reviews happening at the highest level in the State.

Sreenivasa Madenahally

Center Lead - Center for Data Science for Social Impact,
Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) · Part-time

The past 16 months have been an exhilarating journey of exploring new territories in the development sector. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to work on Asset Monetisation for the State where I had the privilege of collaborating with officers who valued my contribution.
