Education : Future-Ready Education System

The engagement entails the creation of a Future Readiness Framework & Curriculum for grades 3 to 12 that will address the future with a sharp focus on 3 pillars: Aata, Paata & Audyōgika, creation of a new digital learning module using Microlearning geared towards making Karnataka the first state to implement Micro-Learning for PUC at scale and building a new branded educational framework that reflects the aspirations of Karnataka.

Engagement Highlights

Vocational Education

Vocational Education in SEZ Zones:

The Fellow received an invitation from the office of the Additional Commissioner of Public Instruction (ACPI) Kalburgi, Mr. Nalini Atul IAS,and facilitated a brainstorming/advising call on various interventions and recommendations for the creation of vocational education units at the SEZ regions. Through the meeting, the proposal to create "holistic vocational education hubs" in all the SEZ regions which can be mapped with 10 nearby schools.

Vocational Education & Knowledge of India Position Paper:

The Fellow is a part of two-position paper committees for the state as a part of NEP 2020 mandate. Both the position papers have been submitted to the central government for review.

Early vocational education for KGBV Schools:

The Fellow made and proposed the recommendation for starting early vocational education in all the KGBV schools. For this, they also conducted meetings with the HMs of all the KGBV schools in order to brainstorm on sectors to be chosen for early vocational education.

NSQF study

  • After the field visits of NSQF centres at KPS, the Fellow conducted a dipstick study focusing on the academic aspect of NSQF with all the 240 schools where NSQF is currently running. 
  • Induction Training for NSQF Trainers conducted for 147 new trainers focusing on ‘Introduction to National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and School vocational educational space and processes’

Future Readiness Framework: Introduction of Computational Thinking

A meeting was facilitated by the Fellow’s office between the PrS, Education and the Global CSR Head for Education, National CSR Head and Karnataka Head of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to the PRS for the introduction of Computational thinking in schools as a part of the Education department’s Future Readiness mandate. TCS’s program on computational thinking and problem solving and their work in other states was shared with the PrS. A proposal has been submitted for trying out the program in 1500 model schools that the state is planning to start. 

Introduction of Entrepreneurship

THe Fellow shortlisted EnLearnin company and introduced them to the PU board and the Samagra Shikshana Karnataka (SSK). The SSK has shown interest in taking this forward and a  proposal containing the operations plan for the same is awaited from their end. 

Introduction of Career Awareness

ILP and iDreamCareer, 2 organizations working in the field of career awareness, were identified and shortlisted by the Fellow’s office and the details were shared with the PU board. The PU board has asked for the proposal from both and will take a decision post that on a need basis

Skills Hub initiative for Out of School (OOSC)

The Fellow worked on the Skills Hub with the KSDC and made recommendations to strengthen their initiatives. They brainstormed with the district-level representatives of the three offices (DDPI - CPI office, DYPC - SSK office, DSDO - KSDC office) and created a strategy on how they all can collaborate and enable convergence in the district towards strengthening the quality of this initiative.
