The engagement covers building strategic convergences within the SHG-Financial institution ecosystem (based on functional areas and resources) to strengthen governance across the State Rural Livelihoods Mission and supporting the Financial inclusion team in implementing the Business Correspondent Sakhi engagement policy guide.
Engagement Highlights
- Proposed the establishment of regional Centers of Excellence (CoEs) called SHIRE (Sanjeevini Hub for Innovation & Rural Entrepreneurship) at several regional centers to drive the incubation of 100 SHGs
- Owned the corporate engagement side of the SARAS Mela which is an on-ground engagement with SHG women and their enterprises from across 20 states.
- Proposed a major credit reform policy to streamline credit to SHG and rural development.
Dr. S. Selva Kumar, currently Secretary, Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and Chairman, Karnataka Skill Development Authority. He is also serving as Principal Secretary, Department of Primary and Secondary Education. He is an officer of the Karnataka cadre's 1997 batch, with a rich educational background, covering a fellowship of the Institution of Engineers India (civil engg), bachelor's in law, master's in international development, and also a doctorate.
As an IAS, Dr. Selva Kumar’s service in Mysore and rural districts in Bangalore as Deputy commissioners has great highlights of bold initiatives and administrative reforms. Apart from working in the education and health departments of the state, he was also the Director, Agriculture Marketing, Bangalore. He has also served his term as the Director to the Prime Ministers’ office under Shri Narendra Modi."
